Sideways Rain Effect


To do this tutorial, you will need a PSP7 which you can get a 30 day trial at Jasc Software and a scenic photo for a background.

Step 1.
Open up your photo, make a copy of it by clicking shift-D at the the same time. Close your original copy. Make 2 more copies of the duplicate.

Step 2.
Open up a canvas larger than your image. Flood fill it with dark color, i chose red. Add a new layer. Click on your paintbrush, set the color to white. Paint brush settings below. Fill the whole canvas with paint. Change your color to #808080. Fill the whole canvas with paint once again.



Your image should look similar to the image below.



Step 3.
Click on Effects/Blur/Motion Blur/ 238 direction angle and intensity 5. Click on Effect/Sharpen. See image below. Delete the background and merge the layers. Copy and paste it to photo1, photo2 and photo 3. Merge the layers on photo 1. Save it as a psp file as an image 1 to your rain folder.



Step 4.
Go to the photo 2. Pull the layer 1(the effects) slightly towards where the arrow is pointing on the image below. Merge the layers and save it as psp file as image 2 to your rain folder.



Step 5.
Repeat Step 4 on photo 3.

At this point, you may frame each images before animating it.

Step 6.
Ok now, lets animate it.
Clik on File/Jasc Software Products/Launch animation shop. Click animation wizard. A window should open and chose the dimension as the same size as the first image frame. Click Next.
New window will open and choose transparent. Click Next.
On new window, choose upper left corner of the frame and with the canvas color. Click Next.
One next window, choose "Yes repeat the animation indefinitely and set the speed to 5. Click Next.
Add your frames in this window. Click Next and then Click Finish.
View your animation by clicking the animation view button. If you like the result. You may save your animated photo as a gif format and you're done. :)
