Valentine Panda Tutorial

You need a PSP program to do this tutorial.  Get a 30 day free trial at Corel.com. 

Download the Selections for this tutorial. Unzip and extract it to the folder of your choice. 
Copy and paste the color chart we will be using .

I will be using the color numbers from this chart. 

 

 
Open a canvas size 400x500, transparent. Load the P-heart1. Effects-3D Effects-Cutout. Settings below.

Add a raster layer, flood fill with color 1. Name this layer "heart1". Move this layer down. Merge the cutout layer down.

Adjust/ Add-Remove Noise/ Add noise. Settings: Uniform checked, Noise 25%, Monochrome checked.

Lighten/ Darken brush. Settings below. Apply highlights.

Load the P-heart2. Add a raster layer. Cutout, opacity 75, Blur 50. Add another layer, name it heart2 and flood fill with color #2. Move this layer down. Merge the cutout layer down. Add Noise, use the same settings. Apply Lighten/ Darken, use the same settings.

Repeat the process on the next 2 hearts.

Load the P-heart5. Add a raster layer, apply cutout. Reduce the cutout opacity to 50 and blur to 25. Add another layer and name this "heart5". Flood fill with #5 color. Move this layer down. Merge the cutout layer down.

You should have an image that looks exactly or similar to the image below.

 

Lighten-Darken Brush 2

 

Now let's do the fun part.

Load the P-right arm. Add a raster layer and flood fill with color #8.

Lighten/ Darken brush. Settings: lighten/ darken brush 2.  Apply Lighten/ darken brush to the paws and arm. 

Change the size 100, when lightening the arm.

 

 

Smudge the image. Use the smudge settings below.

Deselect and smudge around the edges, from inside then out. Add noise. Settings below.

 

Soften brush. Soften around the paws area.

Load the P-right-arm-paw-lines. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Deselect. Blur/ Gaussian Blur 1. Merge this layer down.

 

 

Load the P-right-ear. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Lighten the parts shown on the screen shot.  

Smudge the lightened part, use the same settings. Deselect and smudge around the edges. Add noise.  

Load the P-right-leg. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Lighten the parts shown on the screen shot.  

Smudge the lightened part. Smudge around the edges. Use the same settings. Soften brush, soften the sole of the foot.

Paint brush, size 10, hardness 27, step 25, density 100, thickness 100, opacity 100, color #6. Paint brush 2 ellipses on the foot.

Lighten/ Darken Brush. Change the size to 3 and density 100. Apply highlights on the ellipses. Add noise, use the same settings. Add noise. Deselect.
 

Load the P-right-foot-paw-lines. Add a raster layer, flood fill with #8. Add drop shadow/ Vertical and Horizontal 1/ Opacity 60/ Blur 6. Deselect. Merge this layer down.
Load the P-body. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Lighten/ Darken brush, size 75. Lighten the parts shown on the screen shot.  

Smudge brush size 20. Smudge the edges of the lightened part. Soften Brush, size 48. Soften the llightened part.

Smudge around the edges. Add noise
 

Load the P-left leg. Add a raster layer. Lighten/ Darken brush. Lighten the parts shown on the screen shot  

Smudge brush/ same settings. Smudge the lightened part. Soften brush, soften the sole of the the foot. Deselect. Smudge around the edges.
Paint brush, use the same settings and color. Paint brush a couple ellipses on the foot. Lighten/ Darken brush/ size 3, change the density to 100. Apply highlights on the ellipses. Add noise.

Load the P-left-foot-paw-lines. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Apply drop shadow/ Vertical and Horizontal 1/ Opacity 60/ Blur 6. Deselect and merge this layer down.

 

Load the P-head. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Lighten the parts shown on the screen shot  

Smudge the edges of the lightened part. Soften brush, soften the image. Deselect.

Smudge around the edges. Soften it one more time. Add noise.
 

Load the P-face-lines. Add a raster layer. Flood fill with #9. Deselect. Apply Gaussian Blur, radius 1.
Load the P-eyes-shades. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #565651. Lighten/ Darken brush size 12. Darken the parts shown on the screen shot.  

Soften brush size 20. Soften the lightened part. Deselect. Smudge the around the edges.  

Load the P-eyes. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Load the P-eyelashes, flood fill with the same color.
Load the P-muzzle. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Lighten the part shown on the screen shot. Smudge the lightened part. Soften brush, soften the image. Deselect.  

Smudge around the edges. Add noise.  

Load the P-mouth-lines. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #9.

Load the P-nose. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #9. Lighten/ Darken brush size 4/ change the density to 100. Apply highlights on the nose. Deselect.
Airbrush/ size 7/ color #9. Add a raster layer. Airbrush the cheeks. Apply Gaussian blur/ Radius 4.  

Load the P-left-ear. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Lighten the part shown on the screen shot. Smudge the image. Deselect.

Smudge around the edges. Apply noise.

 

  

Load the P-left-arm. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Lighten the part shown on the screen shot. Smudge the image. Deselect.

Smudge around the edges. Add noise.

 

 

Load the P-left-hand-paw-lines. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #8. Add drop shadow. OK
Load the P-ribbon1. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #7. Burn Brush/ size 15/ hardness 50/ step 25/ density 100/ thickness 100/ opacity 60.

 Darken the parts shown on the screen shot.

 

Load the P-ribbon2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #7. Burn Brush, use the same settings. Darken the parts shown on the screen shot.

Load the P-ribbon3. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #7. Move this layer below the P-head. Burn brush, use the same settings. Darken the parts shown on the screen shot.

 

   

Make an enhancement to your image before merging all the layers. Add text to your image. Merge all the layers visible and save your image.
