Christmas Bow and Ribbon Tutorial
You will need PSP 8 to do this tutorial. Get a 30 Day
free Trial at Jasc.com Open a
canvas size 500x500. Change your f/g to gradient gold
and b/g colors to #C00000. Click on preset shape and
choose rectangle, width 5.00. Draw a rectangle size
250x105 on center of the canvas. Make the upper edge of
the rectangle selected. Effects/ Texture/
Blinds/width=3/ opacity=100/color=#FBDF8B/
horizontal=unchecked, light from left/top = checked.
Repeat process on the bottom edge. Deselect.
Make the left edge selected and use the
settings above, have the horizontal checked. Use the
same process on the right edge of the rectangle.
Deselect.
Click on mesh wrap tool
and use the settings below.
Move the nodes as shown below. figure1

Let's make the second layer of the bow.
Click on preset shape/ rectangle and
draw rectangle size 198x88. Convert to raster layer.
Apply Effects/ Texture/ Blinds/width=3/
opacity=100/color=#FBDF8B/ horizontal=unchecked, light
from left/top=checked. Repeat process on all of the
edges.
Click on mesh wrap tool
.
Move the nodes as shown below.
Click on the first layer. Click on
lighten/darken brush and brush on selected part as shown
below.
Bring the bottom layer to top and apply
lighten /darken brush on the selected part as shown
below. Use the settings above, change the size to 100.
Click on burn/ brush button. Use the
settings below.
Apply burn brush on the selected part of
the bottom bow as shown below.
Click on preset shape and draw a
rectangle on the center of the bow. Convert to raster
layer. Trim the top and bottom part of the rectangle.
Apply texture on left and right edges of the rectangle.
Mesh wrap tool and move the nodes as shown below.
Click on the center rectangle and apply
lighten/ darken as shown below.
Let's add a drop shadow. Click on the
bottom bow. Click airbrush/ settings below. Foreground
color=#000000.
New raster layer. Apply airbrush as
shown on the image below.
Adjust/ Blur/Gaussian Blur size 5. OK
Click on top bow. New raster layer.
Apply airbrush on both sides of the center rectangle.
Apply blur.
And that's it, you are done. Merge all
the layers visible. Save it as PSP file or as a tube.
