Easter Egg Hunting Tutorial

 

You will need a PSP program.  Get a free trial at Corel.com.   You also need the Eye Candy 3.1 plug in.

I used patterned and colored fabrics for the flowers and carrots. It's optional. You can use solid colors or use the fabrics I've used for this tutorial. You can download it here.  Download the selections here.

Open a canvas size 450x450, transparent. Open the fabric file that goes with this tutorial or just used solid colors.
 

Load the EB-grass. Add a layer and flood fill with #81a437. Deselect. Effects/ Plugins/ Eye Candy, Swirl. Settings below.

 
Load the EB-grass-blades. Add a layer and flood fill with #688d0f. Deselect.  Lighten darken brush. Settings below.  Lighten parts of the grass blades.

 
Load the EB-grass-blades2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with same color. Lighten parts of the grass blades.  

 
Load the EB-stems. Add a raser layer and flood fill with #688d0f.

Load the EB-leaves1. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #9bcc04.

Load theEB-leaves2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #81a437. Deselect and reselected. Apply cutout. Settings: Horizontal and Vertical 1. Opacity 50, Blur 15. shadow color #3c590f.

Load the EB-leaves2-veins. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #70912d. Deselect

Adjust/ Brightness and Contrast. Brightness -20, Contrast 0.

Lighten darken brush, use the settings above. Click on the leaves. Lighten between the veins. Adjust the size when doing large leaves and small leaves.

Click back to the top layer. Load the EB-flower1. Add a raster layer. Flood fill the flower on top with the hot pink fabric or color #ff6da2. Flood fill the flower on the bottom left with purple fabric or color #b793fe. Flood fill the flower on the bottom right with blue fabric or color #abdfff. Deselect

Make the top flower selected. Apply cutout use the same settings, Change the opacity to 100 and change the shadow color to #640a24.

Make the bottom left flower selected. Apply cutout, change the shadow color to #290874.

Make the bottom right flower selected. Apply cutout, change the opacity to 75, Blur 10.

Load the EB-flower 3. Add a raster layer. On the top flower, flood fill the center with yellow checkered fabric or color #ffe94d. Bottom left flower, flood fill the center with blue checkered fabric or color #6893fb. Yellow fabric or #ffe645 on the bottom right flowers. Deselect.

Make the top flower selected, apply cutout with settings Vertical and Horizontal 1, Opacity 75, Blur 10. Click on lighten/ darken brush, use the same settings and lighten the center.

Do the same process to the remaining flowers. Adjust the settings if necessary.

Load the EB-ear-arm-foot. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #ffffff. Deselect and reselected. Apply cutout, settings Vertical and Horizontal 1, Opacity 50, Blur 15, shadow color #593205. Add noise, 15%.

Add the EB-body. Add a layer and flood fill with same color. Deselect and reselected. Apply cutout, same settings. Add noise, same setting.
 
Do this process to the rest of the bunny parts. You should have a similar image shown on the right.
 
 

 
Load the BE-eye1. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #ffffff. Load the BE-eye2. Flood fill with #40ffff. Load the BE-eye3. Flood fill with #000000. Paint brush, size 4. Dot the eyes with #ffffff.

Load the EB-eye4. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #000000.

Load EB-lines. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #542204. Load the EB-lines2, add a raster layer and flood fill with the same color.

Load the EB-nose-lip. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #b56d65. Deselect. Make the nose selected and apply cutout. Change the shadow color to #000000. Apply highlights on the nose.

Load the EB-mouth, add a raster layer and flood fill with #000000.
 
Make the head selected. Add a raster layer. Airbrush, settings: size 20/ hardness 10/ step 10/ density 13/ thickness 100/ opacity 55. Airbrush above the nose and ear with #8b3201 and on the cheeks, eyelids and ear with #d76f67. Adjust/ Blur/ Gaussian Blur 5.  

 
Click on the right arm. Freehand selection. Trim the right-end of the image.  

 
Load the EB-right-foot-paw. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #d76f67. Deselect and reselected. Apply cutout, opacity 75, blur 25, shadow color #2b140f. Apply highlights.
 
Click on the right leg. Load the EB-basket1. Add a raster layer and flood fill with woven pattern. Deselect and reselected. Apply cutout, same settings, reduce the Opacity to 100 and Blur to 15. Lighten the center.

Load the EB-basket2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with woven pattern. Deselect and reselected. Apply cutout, reduce the opacity to 50 and blur to 5. Lighten/ Darken brush, lighten the image.

Load the EB-basket-handle. Add a raster layer and flood fill with woven pattern. Deselect and reselected. Apply Cutout, same settings. Lighten-darken brush, adjust the size 10. Lighten the image.

 
Load the EB-basket3. Add a raster layer and flood fill with red checkered pattern. Burn brush size 10, hardness 50, step 25, density 100, thickness 100, opacity 100. Darken the image as shown on the screen shot.

Tip: To achieve an even shade, left click and hold the mouse while shading the entire part. Then do the same way when re-shading for a darker shade.

 

 
Deselect and reselected. Apply cutout. Settings: Vertical and Horizontal 1, Opacity 50, Blur 20.

Lighten-darken brush, size 20, hardness 50, step 25, density 100, thickness 100, opacity 100. Lighten the circled part of the image on the screen shot below.

Load the EB-carrot-leaves. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #99bb55. Deselect and reselected. Apply cutout. Settings. Vertical and Horizontal 1, Opacity 100, Blur 10, shadow color #2e3c02. Lighten the leaves.

Load the EB-carrot1. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the orange fabric or color #ff6a21. Deselect and reselected, apply cutout, change the Blur to 15 and shadow color to #231301. Lighten the center.

Load the EB-carrot2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the same color or fabric. Apply cutout, same settings. Lighten the center.

Load the EB-easteregg1. Add a raster layer and flood fill with any fabric pattern or color of your choice. Deselect and reselected. Apply cutout, change the shadow color to #6c0231. Lighten the center.

Load the EB-easteregg2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with color or fabric of your choice. Apply cutout, shadow color #01445. Lighten the center.

Load the EB-easteregg3. Add a raster layer and flood fill with color or fabric of your choice. Apply cutout, shadow color #5c3302. Lighten the center.

Click on the EB-grass. Load the EB-egg1. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #ffffff. Deselect and reselected. Apply cutout, Opacity 75, Blur 15, shadow color #404040.

Repeat this process on the EB-egg2. Load the EB-egg-decorations. Flood fill the selections with colors of your choice. Deselect.

Your image should look exactly or similar to the image below.



Apply eye candy, use the settings above to the arms, legs body and head for a furry, curly bunny.

Merge all the layers visible and save your image.
