My Sweet Valentine Tutorial

 

You will need  a PSP program.  Get the free trial from core.com.  Eye Candy 3.1, can be downloaded free online. 

This tutorial is written for PSP9 but will work on other versions. Download the
patterned backgrounds I've used for this tutorial or use your own. Download the
Selections and save it to the folder of your choice.
 

Open a canvas 600x500, transparent. Change the foreground to any of the 2 marble pattern background that came with this tutorial.

Selections, Load-Save-Selections, Load selection from disk. Locate the msv-body. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the marble pattern background. Deselect and reselect.

Effects/ 3D effects/ cutout. Settings below. Deselect

Effects/ Plugins/ Eye Candy 3.1/ Swirl. Settings below. We will be using this settings for all the bear parts.

Lighten-Darken brush, settings below. Lighten the center of the foot.

Load the msv-leg-foot. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the same pattern background. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, same settings. Deselect and apply Eye Candy, swirl, same settings. Lighten the center, use the same settings.

Load the msv-leg. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the same pattern background. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout. Deselect. Apply Eye Candy. Lighten the center.

Load the msv-foot2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with same pattern background. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, eye candy and lighten the center.

Load the msv-sole. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #fb8a77. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, change the blur to 15. Lighten-Darken brush, size 8. Apply highlights on the top part of the soles.

You should have an image similar to image below.

Load the msv-paws. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the same color. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, change the blur to 5. Lighten-darken brush size 4. Apply highlights.

Load the msv-dress-lace. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #ffffff or lace fabric. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, same settings, shadow color #580606.

Load the msv-lines. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #5d0505. Apply Gaussian Blur, radius 1.

Click the dress-lace and lighten between the lines, use the same settings just reduce the brush size to 7.

Load the msv-clothes. Add a raster layer. Flood fill the shirt with stripes, change the pattern angle to 45. Flood fill with polka dots on the dress. Change the pattern angle back to 0. Deselect. Reselect the shirt and apply cutout, change the blur to 25 and shadow color #000000. Reselect the dress, apply cutout, shadow color #580606.

Load the msv-line1. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #5d0505. Deselect and apply Gaussian Blur 2.

We should have this image so far.

Load the msv-box1. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #980a0a. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, blur 15, shadow color #580606. Lighten the left side.

 Load the msv-box2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the same color. Deselect and reselect, apply cutout, same settings. Lighten the left side.

Load the msv-box3. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the same color. Deselect and reselect, apply cutout, blur 5. Apply noise. Apply highlights.

The heart box should look like this.  See image below.

Load the msv-bow1. Add a raster layer. Flood fill with #ff0000. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, blur 25. Deselect. Selection tool/ freehand. Select the bottom part of the ribbon. See screenshot. Adjust, Brightness and Contrast. Brightness -35. Deselect.

Load the msv-bow2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the same color. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, same settings. Burn brush size 10. Darken the parts shown on the screen shot. Change the burn brush size 4 and add lines on the center.

Load msv-bow-leaves. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #749030. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, blur 5, shadow color, #000000. Apply highlights.

Load the msv-bow3. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #f563ab. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, blur 10, shadow color #59052b.

Load the msv-bow-flower. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #5d0505. Deselect. Apply blur 1. Click the msv-bow3 and lighten between the lines.

Click back on the msv-bow flower and load the msv-bow-flower again. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the same color. Go to the layer palette and reduce the opacity to 50. You should have this image or similar to the image below.

Load the msv-arms. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the marble pattern you've used fo the bear-parts. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, blur 25, shadow color #580606. Deselect, apply Eye Candy swirl. Lighten the center. Burn brush, darken where the arm crease at.

Load the msv-ears1 Add a raster layer and flood fill with the same pattern. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, same settings, change the blur to 15. Deselect and apply Eye candy swirl.

Burn brush size 8, darken the inner part of the ears. Lighten darken brush size 10. Lighten the outer part of the ears.

Load the msv-heads. Add a raster layer and flood fill with same pattern. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, same settings, just change the blur to 25. Deselect and apply Eye Candy swirl. Deselect

Load the msv-eyes-nose-mouth. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #000000.

Click back on the head. Lighten the muzzle and the cheeks. Lighten parts of the face. Darken above the muzzle. Airbrush, settings: size 25, hardness 10, step 10, density 20, thickness 100, opacity 75, color #f8709d. Airbrush the cheeks with that color. Apply Gaussian Blur 5. Apply Eye Candy swirl.

Load the msv-ears2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with the marble pattern. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, same settings. Apply Eye candy swirl. Darken the inner part then lighten the outer part.

Load the msv-head-bow1. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #dc1456. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, blur 15. Lighten the center.

Load the msv-head-bow2. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #000000. Deselect and apply blur 1.

Load the msv-head-bow3. Add a raster layer and flood fill with #dc1456. Deselect and reselect. Apply cutout, blur 15. Lighten the center. Deselect.

Click back on the body and darken the neck part. Make your enhancement. If you are satisfied with your image, merge the layers visible and save it as psp or tube file.  End of Tutorial
