This tutorial has a lot of screen shots to show the details of the image.

    Open a canvas 600x600, transparent. Click on pen tool, freehand/ width 1 foreground and background color white. Convert to raster layer. Go to layer palette and name this image "beard". See screen shot 1.
 
 

Change the foreground/ background color to #fec8c8. Pen tool/ freehand. Draw a sketch for Santa's face as shown on screen shot 2. You may edit the nodes to reshape the image. Convert to raster layer. Name this image "face"

   
 
    Change the foreground color to black and leave the background color to white. Pen tool/ freehand. Draw Santa's mustache as shown on screen shot 3. Edit the nodes by moving it up/ down/ side to side to obtain the desired image. Convert to raster layer. Name this image "mustache".
 
  Change the foreground and the background color to #980015 Pen tool/ freehand. Let's draw the mouth as shown on screen shot 4. Edit the nodes. Convert to raster layer. Name this image "mouth".    
 
    Change the foreground/ background color to #fec8c8. Click on preset shape tool and choose ellipse. Draw an ellipses to make a lip highlight. Change the foreground/ background color to white and draw an ellipse to make a teeth. Edit the nodes to form both shapes. Convert to raster layer. See screen shot 5. Name this image "lip/teeth".  
 
  Change the foreground color to black/ background color to white. Pen tool/ freehand. Let's draw Santa's eye brows. Draw the eyebrow as shown on screen shot 6. Edit the nodes if necessary. Convert to raster layer. Name this image "eyebrows".    
 
    Leave the foreground to black and background color to white. Pen tool/ free hand. Let's draw the eyes. Edit the nodes. Convert to raster layer. See screen shot 7. Name this images "eyes1"  
 
  Change the foreground/ background color to black. Pen tool/ freehand. Complete the eyes as shown on screen shot 8. Name this image "eyes2"    
 
    Let's do the nose. Change the foreground color to #532525 and the background color to #fec8c8. Pen tool. Draw the nose as shown on screen shot 9. Edit the nodes. Convert to raster layer. Name this image "nose".
